TENGKU SUZANA TENGKU ABDUL KADIR AND ELAINE TEE
Co-founders of the Singapore lifestyle and travel online platform, HAVE HALAL, WILL TRAVEL, that’s empowering Muslim tourists to embark on more fulfilling travel experiences
Who knew that going on a student exchange to Seoul, South Korea would give rise to one of Asia’s leading lifestyle and travel platforms catering to the Muslim population? “Information was fragmented and unreliable,” says Tengku Suzana Tengku Abdul Kadir, one of the co-founders of Have Halal, Will Travel (HHWT). She continues, “We realised that many other Muslims face the same problem and understood how challenging it can be to find halal food options and prayer spaces overseas.”
Tengku Suzana started HHWT with her two co-founders, Mikhail Melvin Goh and Elaine Tee in 2015 as a passion project while holding full-time jobs, before investing their time wholly after a year. Their initial travel guide to Hong Kong had been a resounding success. After that the site boasted a monthly reach of about 10 million as they expanded their travel guides to cover countries like Japan and Korea with clients straddling the public and private sectors, like Singapore Tourism Board and Klook, an activity booking platform.
