When Siblings Forget​​​​​​​ That They Loved Each Other...

We all begin by loving each other. And then things go astray. And when things go astray, is exactly the time when we need to remind ourselves of how much we love each other...

A small experiment was conducted last year. Children in orphanages in Chandigarh & Karachi were asked what they thought of Pakistan & India respectively. The answers did not shock us – they were laced with sentiments of hurt and anger but the sentiments reeked of ignorance. That was the time, when the kids were taken back into History and told how the 2 nations are actually siblings who, just like these kids do land up having disagreements with each other. People shared with these children, their experiences of how, in an absolutely foreign land, someone from the other side actually helped them out. How on a cold, rainy evening, a gentleman travelling on the train from Frankfurt to Munich was offered warm food by a restaurant owner from Pakistan. How, a businessman from Delhi always makes it a point to have Keema from a Pakistani joint in London, every time he is travelling to the city for work. Or how, for a textile company›s marketing head travels to Pakistan often and has made the best of friends there!

These inspirational tales were narrated and had such a deep impact on the minds of children that they organised an activity where each child made a friendship card for a child on the other side of the border. The adorable little ones made cards for the children here and when these cards were received by children on each side – the expressions on their faces cannot be described in words.
