Love has the ability to make you feel special. It fills you up with warmth and happiness. on most memorable occasions when love is expressed on a birthday, anniversary or a romantic dinner in a restaurant, a candle is lit. being near a candle makes you feel warm and secure, much like how love makes you feel.

Candles also have a therapeutic effect. Sinking into a hot bath with an aromatic candle burning next to you is all you need to ease your daily stress. Candle therapy is an ancient treatment that has been used by various cultures. The Romans poured melted wax on their bodies before a massage while the French used wax for healing.

THE CANDLE MASSAGE

Some spas offer a candle massage where the novelty is that the massage candle contains essential oils and massage oil is mixed into the paraffin wax. When the massage is administered, the candle is lit and it slowly liquefies the wax releasing the oils from the candle.

“A warm candle massage is a relaxing, aromatic soft massage that helps to ease tension. The melted oil from the candle spreads like any other oil when poured over the body. These aromatic oils tend to nourish, tone and moisturize the skin at low temperatures, after only a few minutes of heating,” explains Raghav Sawant, Spa Manager, Heavenly Spa at The Westin Pune. The spa offers candle therapy using the nourishing properties of oils from grape seed, avocado, apricot, jojoba, coconut, hemp seed, vitamin E and soybean.
