Congratulations on your first L’Officiel cover, Daiyan! How does it feel to grace our April ’23 cover?

I woke up this morning and I was like “Oh my God!”. This has always been a dream. For a Malay singer to be gracing a L’Officiel cover — it’s a huge deal to me. I want to thank the team for having me and Gucci for pulling all this together. It’s truly a dream come true!

From being a singer-songwriter and actress to playing different roles in dramas while staying true to yourself, like Gucci’s Spring/ Summer 2023 collection, your career is a constant exploration of duality. How do you juggle all the different facets of your life?

Playing multiple roles and multitasking has always been the topic of my conversation since the very beginning of my career. (Fun fact: I released my first song in 2013 so this year marks my 10th work anniversary!) I am always asked the same question: “Do you like singing or acting better?”, or “Do you like writing in Malay or English more?”. Why can’t I do both? If I limit myself to just one, I won’t be able to be authentic and stay true to myself. Therefore, I allow myself to discover and explore every single angle that I am keen on. This has given me the most satisfaction and fulfilment in terms of crafting my own art and path.

You’ve acted in a slew of popular series throughout the years. Which character do you feel the most in tune with?
