To celebrate 35 years with Tiffany & Co., the designer has revived her most iconic collection
Like so many of us, Paloma Picasso discovered the allure of Tiffany & Co. by way of Audrey Hepburn’s iconic film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The film was playing in an old Parisian theatre the young Picasso frequented; needless to say it was love at first sight.
“To me, visiting Tiffany & Co. in New York was like going to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris,” she recalls of her first visit as an 18-year-old. As she stood before the Tiffany & Co. flagship store on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, she noticed a contrast that appealed to her sensibility. “The building is masculine and yet home to some of the world’s most glorious jewellery. I like that sense of contradiction a lot.”
