Gifts For Him - And What They Really Mean
TRUE LOVE Magazine East Africa|June 2017

What does the gift you buy for the man in your life say about you and your relationship? Let ADRIAN CHRISTOPHER tell you!

Gifts For Him - And What They Really Mean

LEATHER

WHAT IT SAYS: ‘you are sophisticated; adult; worldly.’ leather belt. leather wallet. leather bookmark. leather keychain. leather anything.

Unless he’s allergic to hide or has strong reasons not to use it (religion, for example), a man always appreciates leather, primarily because it lasts.

Guys are big on practicality, and if you give him a leather wallet to replace his old one, that means he does not have to shop for another one for at least 10 years — hooray!

STATIONERY

WHAT IT SAYS: ‘your work is important to me.’ pens, pencils or other such cool stuff he can use at work are wonderful gifts for men. these are things he uses every day on the job. By getting him a Waterman to replace his Bic, you are saying that what he does for a living is not only important to him, but to you, too.

Writing with a nice instrument somehow makes your script smoother and richer. With a nice pen, immortalising your thoughts on paper becomes a very important experience instead of the routine, humdrum event it usually is. nice pens also look really good in breast pockets, just like prada handbags look good on shoulders.

Ballpoint or fountain? good question, and the answer for any man below 30 is simple: ballpoint. Fountain pens are inconvenient and unnecessary for the work of grown men.

MOBILE PHONE CASE

WHAT IT SAYS: ‘Don’t lose your phone again.’

As long as a mobile phone is in a man’s pocket, there is always the risk of it falling out unbeknownst to him. Make a note of the exact brand and model of his phone and pay a visit to the mall to find a case that fits, the kind that he can attach to his belt. if possible, get an original case from the phone manufacturer itself.
