The AH-64 Apache assault helicopter is one of the best machines of its type in current operation. American technology has equipped many of the armed forces of the world, including the Israeli Air Force (IAF). A simple kit by HobbyBoss of the AH-64 D Long Bow Apache in 1/72 scale fell into my hands. It’s a basic tooling comprising quite a small number of parts and little detail. I decided to build this model out of curiosity to see what can be done with it. The premise was simple - as few additions as possible and a few of my own alterations, although I did employ dedicated photoetched elements from Eduard and those fairy tale masks from the same manufacturer.
As always before assembly, I read the kit instructions thoroughly as well as carrying out some research on the replica under construction, both in my own resources and on the Internet. This always helps me to plan the construction of the model properly and determine what it is possible to achieve.
The first step is to cut off the largest parts of the hull from the sprue. This is followed by the various elements of the cockpit and interior. These parts are rudimentary and there are very few of them, which is why I decided to use the Eduard set, which was installed later in the build.
