with Ms. Fharzana Siraj, Founder & Leading Yoga Therapist at ORANGE RAY – Holistic health Clinic, CHENNAI
On Yoga becoming an inevitable aspect of lifestyle and the influence in recent times:
“The further man goes away from the fundamentals, the greater the incidence of disease.” says Ms. Fharzana Siraj, Founder& Leading Yoga Therapist of Orange Ray – holistic health Clinic, Chennai.” All lifestyle diseases are on the rise. Diabetes, insomnia, hypertension, dyslipidemia and so on.. Are these infections? NO. Are these communicable? NO. These come only because of erratic lifestyles! Yoga classifies diseases into 2 types. Adhija vyadhi and Anadhijavyadhi. She says that Adhija Vyadi are stress-borne diseases. Anadhija Vyadhi: which means Non -stress borne diseases. These mainly include accidents, infections and contagious diseases.
Adhi starts at Manomaya Kosha and percolates into the Pranamaya Kosha and then Annamaya Kosha and results in a disease. Hence, Yoga is not just for a day but should be a way of life.
Views of common man towards yoga and its benefits:
“Common man should look at yoga as a divine blessing – both self sustaining and free.. Best things in life come free-air, water and yoga, chuckles Fharzana.
The benefits of yoga can be seen from day 1 itself. Sustained practice as less as even a month will significantly impact the body and mind bringing overall good health and stability.
Special types of yoga poses that people can follow regularly at home:
My most favourite asana is the SHAVASANA. It is all about lying down on the floor like a corpse (shava). In the current scenario, staying still has almost become impossible. Shavasana, done religiously for 20 mins everyday is almost equal to 2-3 hours of sleeping. It gives the much-needed deep relaxation and helps you release stress.
