There is a famous saying, ‘Prevention is better than cure’ which is relevant for today’s parents. Every person blames others for their own mistake at some point in life. A child should know what is happening around the world and should be able to think rationally and every parent has to enlighten this in their child’s mind to think on their own. It is essential to teach the right things to your children but it is also necessary to throw a word on preventing bad things.
Teaching children about sexual abuse is one of the best way to help keep them safe. It’s never too early to start talking to kids about inappropriate conduct. There is evidence that younger children learn more and better than older kids. It’s also important to bust the “stranger danger myth” with our child. Teach your kid what parts of their bodies are off limits to everyone – family and friends included.
When we look into the 2013 to 2016 National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) statistical data of Child Rape cases during the period 2015 to 2016 there was an increase in number. NCRB came out with a shocking statement in 2016 that the 95% rape victims in India are ‘known’ to offenders and Madhya Pradesh tops. The list of minor rape cases reported in Madhya Pradesh (2,467), Maharashtra (2,292), Uttar Pradesh (2,115), Odisha (1,258) and Tamil Nadu (1,169) in 2016. NCRB is yet to release the 2018 data on the number of Child Rape cases in the year 2017 & 2018. These are only the reported cases but what about the cases which are not reported? Our country has managed and come over tsunami, earthquake, flood, poverty and let us also join our hands together to change young India to come over ‘abuse’ and change the perception on opposite gender.
