THE VAGUS NERVE TAKES US DEEP INTO OUR SOUL – THE PLACE WHERE OUR TRUE ENERGY LIES. LEARN HOW TO ACCESS IT TO FEEL MORE RELAXED AND REGAIN A HEALTHY RHYTHM
We all have a treasure deep within us – the grace of a loyal but shy friend. There’s a long list of things it can do, but above all, it brings us ease, relaxation and inner peace – if we manage to befriend it. It’s called the vagus nerve, the tenth cranial nerve.
Vagus is Latin for “wandering”, and in keeping with its name, this nerve roams the body maintaining particularly good relations with important functions like the heart, lungs and gastrointestinal systems, on which it has a positive influence. It has long been rumoured that the vagus nerve isn’t able to be consciously accessed, but that’s not true. In fact, we can establish contact with it in a handful of very effective ways.
We’ll learn how later on – first it’s important to understand where the vagus gets its abilities from, and why they’re so significant for us.
Our life is one of alternating opposites, also known as “dominant bipolarity”. We have night and day, flexors and extensors; we breathe in and out; and the heart beats through contractions, getting smaller and larger.
