Holidays are the time for good food and good fun; it is easy to lose your workout schedule between family gatherings, office parties and last-minute shopping - before you know it you’ve let yourself go and put on all that weight you worked hard to keep off.
It is important to take control now so that you can look and feel your best this holiday season. Here are some tips on whipping your body into shape!
1 SET A GOAL AND WORK TOWARDS IT
Setting a specific goal to achieve is a great way to motivate yourself and track your progress. For instance, if your goal is to lose weight, make it a measurable goal with a specific number. That way if your aim is to lose say 4kg by the New Year, and there are two more months in the year, you should aim to lose 1kg every two weeks. This is an easy way to monitor how close you are to achieving your goal and the deadline will further motivate you to work towards it.
Be mindful when you are setting your goals; while it is good to be ambitious and aim for fantastic results you should take into consideration your body’s physical capacity. Set a realistic goal within the period of time you have or you might risk injuring yourself and losing motivation along the way.
2 SWITCH THINGS UP
We know it can be difficult to stay on track, especially during the holiday season when all you want to do is relax, watch TV and eat all the delicious holiday treats. One great way to stay motivated is to make your workouts more fun.
For instance, create a good workout playlist with your favourite songs and blast it while you’re on the treadmill or lifting weights. This simple change can not only help to improve your performance but it’ll make your workout seem less tough.
