Perfectionism Creates Chaos

Perfection in the material world is absolutely not possible and when people talk of it, they really create chaos. One perfectionist in the house, and the whole family suffers. We see many families breaking down because of perfection. I will give you an example.

There was a husband who was a perfectionist and was also suffering from diabetes and heart problems. As soon as he entered the house, he used to observe that a pen was not in its proper place, the newspaper was lying around crumpled, the bedsheet had a few creases and other things were out of place while his wife was sitting and watching television. He hated all this, so as soon as he entered the house, he would start grumbling, Why did you open the door so late, I have been ringing the doorbell for so long.

Such is the personality of a perfectionist, which results in quarrels and tension. In the above example, I gave the man some simple advice, When you ring the doorbell, do not look at your watch to see how much time it takes for someone to open the door. Instead, do Talasana or Konasana or take deep breaths.
