Shri Yogendraji understood his duty this way: It was his duty to salvage secret and dying traditions of yoga. He took it as his duty to examine thoroughly, with the aid of reason and science, the ancient knowledge. He took it as his duty to bring this knowledge of yoga to the larger society. He took it as his duty to lead a householder’s life, per his promise to his own father, and at the same time to maintain Yogic ideals in the midst of a chaotic society.
