This watercolourist believes that the visual excitement of a moment can only be captured with the passion of the artist’s indulgence. A painting is a reflection of a moment in time.

Michael Piegdon Moments In Time

Michael Piegdon is originally from New York but has spent most of his adult life in Colorado. Michael’s love affair with the ruggedness and sheer majesty of the Colorado mountains and breathtaking terrain has been ongoing. His paintings and artistic pursuits are a result of this. Now, living in Australia, he has embraced the majestic terrain of the Blue Mountains and the jagged seacoast to enhance his collection of dramatic paintings.

An avid mountain climber and adventurer, Michael has been able to capture the mystery and drama of some of the world’s most spectacular and scenic locations in beautiful watercolours. He uses wet-on-wet saturation of colour to depict the emotion and drama of every subject. Through years of study and experience, Michael has developed a precise and devout control of his chosen medium. His uncanny style of watercolour painting is unique.

The quaint little town of Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney is now home to this artist – far away from his birthplace of Syracuse, New York. He works part-time at a small optical company while pursuing his artistic career.

Michael has a Bachelor of Arts from Central State University. He has done 3D animation for corporate television commercials and training tapes. He has owned and operated a fashion optical store; a photography and portrait studio; and a 3D animation company. He has studied watercolours by many leading artists, and developed his own painting technique.
