Whether you want to grow your own fruit and veg, create more space for beautiful blooms or improve your soil, raised garden beds offer the ideal solution. ‘The position of a raised bed is important, as exposure to the sun helps to warm the soil more quickly, which helps plants to germinate and extends the growing season,’ explains garden designer Claudia de Yong. Self-contained raised beds also allow you to introduce a different soil type for growing specific plants. ‘This means that if your garden has problem soil, such as heavy clay, you can provide better soil conditions too.’
