Having found the perfect period house, all deborah chancellor had to do was add beautiful mid- century pieces to make it a home.
A home from home, far from the hustle and bustle of London life is what led Deborah and Jim Chancellor to start their search for somewhere they could use as a weekend bolt-hole and holiday house, with an eye to it being their ‘forever’ home.
After six months of searching, they found the Grade II-listed Georgian property they now call their own. They first saw the house in late spring, and it was almost three months before they put an offer in and another four before they finally moved in. ‘We didn’t want to rush into anything,’ Deborah says. ‘We also hadn’t planned to buy somewhere with so much land – it has five acres, including its own wood – so at first we thought it wasn’t quite right for us. However, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it all that summer. I’d lie there at night imagining what I would do with it, how I’d change this or do that. I knew then it was time to give in and buy it.’
