It has been a hard summer for hedgehogs. Like lots of other wild birds and animals, they’ve suffered in the heatwave. Earthworms, small slugs and other invertebrates have been nearly impossible to find. And thirst has been a problem, too.

It has meant that wildlife hospitals have had to deal with an influx of underweight, sickly, young hedgehogs. Things have improved a little over the last couple of weeks, but hogs could do with some help if they’re to get back to full health before it’s time for hibernation.
