There are a myriad of beautiful kitchen flooring ideas out there, so understanding how to choose the right option for your space will help to simplify your design process. After all, flooring is a major decision in terms of style and budget and will impact the overall look and feel of the space.
In addition to appearance, the flooring surface needs to be durable and easy to maintain and clean. ‘There are a wide range of different options when it comes to selecting kitchen flooring, from luxury vinyl flooring to hardwood and stone tiles,’ explains Matthew Brook, national sales manager, IVC Group. ‘Considering what’s best for you based on space, price, style and the flooring’s benefits, will ensure you make an educated decision.’
LEARN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS AVAILABLE
Flooring comes in all manner of materials, but for a high-traffic and, let’s be frank, messy space like the kitchen, it’s important to get right. ‘The type of flooring you choose for your home will depend on how you use each individual room,’ says James Scully, founder of Recork. ‘For a kitchen, it is often a room in which we spend most of our time, so it is important to go for a material that is durable, robust and easy to maintain due to the amount of foot traffic.’
Materials such as natural stone and real wood will require more looking after than flooring made from porcelain, cork, laminate and vinyl, so consider how much time you have to maintain them and keep them in top condition. Although how they will look is also important.
