HOME PROFILE
THE OWNERS A traditional Indian joint family, with a well-established jewellery business in Chennai.
THE PROPERTY This house is spread across three levels, with a total built-up area of 10,500 sq ft. The ground floor has the living and formal drawing room, as well as the dining room and kitchen. The first floor comprises the master suite, and the children’s rooms. On the second floor is a yoga room and terrace. The home was completed in March 2020.
Contemporary designs and traditional beliefs merge to form a cohesive and timeless statement by architects Archana and Rupesh Baid of AND Design Co. Across this expansive Chennai home, clean lines heighten the luxe-quotient in the form of statuario, travertine, amazonite and marquina marble. Materials such as spoilproof wallpaper and double-glazed glass, along with the latest in home-automation, bring in the elements of a twenty-first century family home. “It was about weaving ideas from modern day and elements from the traditional past into a current form. This house is fully Vaastucompliant… pragmatic yet luxurious,” says Rupesh.
