With a national park in the backyard and a river on your doorstep, this was the perfect place to build a new home. While they say it’s all about location, this picturesque building did have some challenges early on. The family home was built on a flat site opposite Lake Weyba in Noosa, adjoining the river, which means the area is prone to flooding. Designers Lee Foster and Scott Falconer from Aboda Design Group had to get creative to work around this risk.

.

The homeowners wanted to build their family of five a home where the adults and the teenagers would have enough space to grow. “The design needed to accommodate the transition of a young family to adulthood and beyond while creating contemporary planning arrangements with clearly articulated public and private zones,” says Aboda Design Group’s director, Lee Foster. “We wanted to dissolve the lines between interior and exterior.”
