In September, Italian luxury brand Moncler unveiled Mondogenius, a digitally-led fashion show featuring 11 Moncler Genius designers filmed across five cities. The global audience is guided through New York, Milan, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Seoul ‒ on a dedicated microsite and over 30 platforms ‒ to discover and explore the concepts that have inspired these designers, spanning various fields including art, film, music and extreme sports. Sergio Zambon, the designer for 2 Moncler 1952 Man, made his first foray into curating in Milan with “Instant Message: A One Day Exhibition”. He tapped on artists Andrea Anastasio, Erwin Wurm, and Prem Sahib to reimagine signature looks from his latest collection, specifically the iconic duvet jacket, as works of art. Everyday items are turned on their heads, just like the purpose of the outerwear is constantly twisted and turned at Moncler.
To further hone the holistic ethos of the project, these artworks were auctioned online via Artsy, the world’s leading online art marketplace, with the proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organisation Free The Work on behalf of The Film Path.
In concert with the showcase of these exhibits, Zambon also presented the Tokyo-infl uenced AW21 collection he co-designed with two cult Tokyo brands: And Wander and Suicoke. The collection also enlisted the help of illustrator Karo Akpokiere in the development of the prints for the pieces. One can thus expect a restful wardrobe that is both visually vibrant, energetic and ever-so-cosy.
