Kiera Gibson is aiming for League Cup glory with her team-mates

AT 17-years-old, Kiera Gibson already has seven years as a Celt under her belt with a year prior to that with Glasgow Girls and, now with a run in the first team fully underway, the young keeper will be putting all that experience to good use when the Ghirls take on Forfar in the League Cup semi-final this Sunday at Falkirk.

Since she was 10-years-old, the keeper has represented the Celts at every age level from Under-12s upwards and has recently been understudy to Megan Cunningham after graduating to the top squad three years ago.

Injury to the No.1 has seen Gibson play four games so far this term, including the two cup wins of 4-0 over St Johnstone and 3-0 over Hamilton Accies that have taken the Ghirls to this weekend’s showdown in the capital

She’s not without previous first-team experience, though, as she said: “My first full season with the first team was 2016, so I was second in line to Megan and on the bench for the games. I’ve been in that position with a few first team games here and there, but Megan is injured just now, so I’m currently the goalkeeper.

“I’ve been playing recently and in most of the games this season, but I’ve played first team football before this run, though, as my debut was on May 22, 2016 against Forfar and I’ve probably played about 10 or 11 games prior to this season.”
