Mogwai are home for the festive season, and for Stuart Braithwaite that means a chance to watch the Hoops

PLAYING gigs throughout Europe, writing film soundtracks and launching a beer is busy work, but Mogwai guitarist, Stuart Braithwaite still finds time to watch Celtic make history no matter where he is.

With the band’s most recent tour concluded, Braithwaite is now settling back into life at home, which means returning to Paradise to witness the Bhoys make history.

It’s been an eventful 2018 for Mogwai with gigs spanning three continents and the release of the Kin soundtrack.

They may be home now but, as is the case with Celtic, December holds no promise of rest. The band are back in the studio writing new music and have no plans to take their foot off the pedal for the foreseeable future.

“We’re working on music for a TV show right now, which is good because it’s something different,” said Braithwaite. “It’s a lot of work but we’ll be doing a bit more of that over the next year or so. After that, we’ll regroup and starting writing songs for our new album.

“We’ve just finished touring for the year, so it’s good to be back home. We’ve been playing gigs since February onwards. In the last couple of months, we played a bunch of dates in England, Wales and a small one in Glasgow. The last few we did were in Greece.

“We were actually flying back from Greece during the League Cup final so we missed most of it. We landed just as Celtic were awarded the penalty. I managed to follow the rest of the game from then, though, so I was really happy with the result.”
