In this special 5th anniversary edition of Delhiites we decided to feature a Delhiite who has now a nation-wide sensation. Born as Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, but known as Badshah all over the country, he is one of the most sought after names in the world of Bollywood music today. As an Indian rapper, music producer, music composer and lyricist he has managed to stay true to his stage name and ruled the hearts of people all over the world. His songs have been known to regularly rack up hundreds of millions of views and most of them end up becoming successful party anthems. Some of his hits include Kar Gayi Chul, DJ Waley Babu, Saturday Saturday, Wakhra Swag, Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai, Tareefan among many others. His latest album O.N.E. (Original Never Ends) which was long overdue was recently released and has already begun to create waves. The 17 tracks on O.N.E. chart his evolution over the 13 long years that he has spent in the music industry. In this exclusive interview with Delhiites he opens up about his life, work and beliefs.
I knew that but that’s not the reason why I changed my name to Badshah. I just love that name and I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan so I think it just happened to be a coincidence. I think the name worked for me and I worked for the name.
You are a qualified civil engineer and even worked as one for a while. But you decided to leave that job and enter the music industry. How did you make that transition.
I was always a musician and I just happened to be an engineer. I always wanted to be a musician but decided to pursue Civil engineering for my parents. I knew early on that I wanted to be a musician and it was an easy decision for me.
Can you please tell us more about your latest album O.N.E.
O.N.E. is a lot of hard work. It’s been in the making for the last three years now. It’s got around 17 songs and it’s going to be out tonight. It’s got a lot of lyricism and it’s got various aspects to the album sonically as well as lyrically. I am too excited about it. Well nervous as well as excited but mostly relieved because it’s coming out finally.
Do you ever suffer from performance anxiety.
