Gyms are closed and people are avoiding close contact with others in an attempt to halt the spread of the Coronavirus. So how can you stay fit and healthy while social distancing or self-isolating?

Working out from home is the new going out as the fitness industry searches for alternative ways to keep offering classes to their regulars or offer tips and guidance to help keep you all on the right track.

Glenys Reynolds is the owner at Repose Studio in Buckhurst Hill. ‘We have followed Government guidelines and closed the studio until further notice,’ explains Glenys. ‘However, we are moving to an online platform for new and existing members who would like to be able to work out at home and stay connected to their workout community. We are looking at ways we can work together with Featherbeats Studio; standing together in our local community is so important.’

Repose Studio is a designated Power Plate studio in Buckhurst Hill and it runs small group classes focusing on health and wellbeing with a real community spirit.

‘We will run interactive live sessions for short bursts of exercise and yoga,’ she says. ‘We’ll also be offering workout ideas, thoughts of the day, meditation and breathing exercises, and also staying in touch through newsletters and emails. Featherbeats have got a great variety of videos you can sign up to and their instructors are some of the best.’

While dumbbells may be sold out and there is a waiting list as long as a piece of string for skipping ropes, that’s not an excuse not to exercise.
