Thankfully, there are many makeup products that promise long-lasting properties today. Besides giving you a smooth transition from boardroom to bar, many also promise transfer-, sweat- and humidity-resistant formulas.
But does this mean we have to adopt a more rigorous cleansing routine to ensure that these products are thoroughly removed? Makeup artist Lasalle Lee says: "Using cleansing oil or micellar water, followed by face wash, is sufficient. Over-cleansing will strip off the natural oils on your face, leading to dryness."
How to prep
To prolong your makeup, Lasalle shares that skincare prep before makeup application is crucial. He cautions that "as most base makeup now includes skincare benefits, we shouldn't use beauty products that are too rich". In other words, go for lightweight products so that your skin is less likely to become greasy afterwards.
