Extensive preparation and creative concepts result in a delightful family home with classic charm.
Situated deep on a peaceful cul-de-sac in Madison’s Reunion development, Mary Catherine and Justin Blackwell’s gracious home is a gorgeous illustration of warmth and accessibility. With two small daughters at the time of the home’s creation, the couple realized they needed a space that was more open and inviting—yet something that would work with their growing family while remaining true to their classic tastes. The couple collaborated with Justin’s father, builder Don Blackwell, and architect Betsy Morrow on the logistics of the project. Armed with sketches and notes, the team pulled together plans for the picturesque French country home that would become the family’s refuge.
The spaces and layout of the home were thoughtfully organized for the couple and their daughters, Caitlyn, now 10, and Caroline, 8. Heart-pine floors and antique brickwork effortlessly meld with the airy neutral color scheme and dark stained millwork. The livable spaces flow seamlessly into one another, allowing for ultimate access while entertaining and spending time together as a family.
