Emotional intelligence refers to an individual’s capability to recognise his own emotions or other person’s emotions. But, it doesn’t only stop at recognising one’s emotions but extends to managing and adjusting those emotions to adapt to the environment he is in. This also includes how a person evaluates, expresses and controls emotions. Since emotional intelligence is the key to both personal and professional success, an emotionally intelligent person can easily handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. Therefore, one can easily conclude that emotional intelligence is a vital part of daily life.
Thus, parents have the responsibility of making their children emotionally intelligent for the future. This responsibility is reiterated by the fact that millenial parents tend to move out of their parental homes for a more nuclear style of living, emphasising the need for utmost care, concern and attention, an otherwise advantage of the joint family system. Add to the fact that to live a dcent enough life, two incomes are the norm, and parents do tend to find themselves stretched thin between their responsibilites at work and their quality time at home. Hence, taking a good care in this regard becomes all the more important for parents. And while nobody expects you to be a superhero, we’ll do our best to get you close enough.
