In a new book, 7 Steps to Get Your Child Reading, teacher and educational consultant Louise Park explains why you should keep reading aloud as long as possible.

1 For the sheer pleasure of it! It’s a fact, children of all ages love to be read to. In a recent survey, older children made themselves very clear on this, with 83 per cent of them stating that being read to was something they either loved or liked a lot.
