ONE SONG MIGHT HAVE CHANGED EVERYTHING
ELVIS & DOLLY THE MOMENT PRISCILLA FOUND OUT!

When it comes to the world of music, there are no two more iconic singers than Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton. Which is why, despite their marriages to other people, fans always prayed they’d end up together.

For one moment in history – much to Elvis’ wife Priscilla’s horror – their stars did indeed collide.

In the 1970s, Dolly and Elvis were “set up” by their management in the hope that he would cover her 1974 hit ballad, ‘I Will Always Love You’.

“Management hoped there would be chemistry, in the only way there can be chemistry when two huge talents like Dolly and Elvis are in the same room,” says a source. “It would have been an iconic coupling. Despite being a legend in her own right, Dolly was starstruck by the idea of meeting Elvis … and Elvis thought she was adorable and an incredible songwriter.”

Their duet was sadly never to happen, thanks to Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker, who’s being played by Tom Hanks in a new biopic.

“I’d been invited down to the studio to meet Elvis and be there when he sang my song,” Dolly, 75, told The Big Issue in November 2020. “That was the most exciting thing that ever happened to me.
