After years of anticipation, Lisa Wilkinson’s memoir was meant to set the record straight about her illustrious career and shock axing from Today and Nine. But in an unfortunate turn of events, the book’s release also coincided with some unwanted backlash.

Last week, Lisa was seen at a Sydney cafe, where she looked downcast while making a phone call, according to onlookers.

Since her autobiography, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This, hit bookstores, the former magazine editor, 61, has found herself in the middle of a media firestorm over her long-debated gender pay gap with Today co-host, Karl Stefanovic.
