THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND... & TRAILBLAZER

BETTY WHITE 1922–2021

Вetty White has been remembered as a showbiz pioneer and one of the all-time comedy greats after she died of natural causes at her Los Angeles home, just weeks before her anticipated 100th birthday.

Her long-time friend and agent, Jeff Witjas, confirmed that Betty, who would have celebrated her incredible century on January 17, passed away “peacefully in her sleep” early on New Year's Eve morning.

Betty's death came as a shock to both fans and Hollywood, with many of the late star's colleagues paying tribute to her amazing career, as well as giving thanks for her friendship.

"She was great at defying expectation,” said Ryan Reynolds, who starred with Betty in The Proposal. “She managed to grow very old and, somehow, not old enough."

Sandra Bullock, who presented Betty with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2010, said she would honour her friend by enjoying a hot dog and glass of vodka - which Betty had previously joked was the secret to her longevity.

Betty Marion White was born in Illinois in 1922, the only child of homemaker Christine and lighting executive Horace.

The family moved to LA during the Great Depression and Betty took an interest in performing at a young age, making several minor appearances in films and radio dramas at the time.
