With its hub at Singapore’s Changi Airport, Singapore Airlines is regarded as a national symbol and icon.
Known as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines in the year 1966 and later on separated into Malaysian Airline System and Singapore Airlines as we know it today, the airline taxied its first Airbus A300 at Singapore Changi Airport and flew to Kuala Lumpur in the year 1981. Majorly owned by the Singapore Government, the airline uses the iconic Singapore Girl, which is used as a central figure in its corporate branding. In the year 1989, it became the first carrier to fly a Boeing 747-400 across the Pacific from Singapore.
Currently, the carrier flies to over 65 destinations across 35 countries in six continents. Being a part of Star Alliance, passengers flying with Singapore Airlines can avail of a lot of benefits through check-in, joint ticketing, joint check-in and baggage facilities, co-location of partners, and connection teams at key airports to provide a smoother travel experience.
