Council for Leather Exports(CLE) held its first regional export award function. Organized by CLE Northern Region, the function felicitated outstanding performers from the northern region industry in Agra on January 5, 2019.
Council for Leather Exports’ Export Awards were introduced in the year 1985 and since 1991 they were conferred during the India International Leather Fair (IILF), Chennai. The Committee of Administration had earlier decided that the Regional Export performance awards would be bestowed at regional zones. Accordingly, the first award ceremony was held by Northern Region of CLE. The chief guest C.R. Chaudhary, MOS for Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India congratulated all the winners for their roles in boosting the industry’s performance by scaling new peaks of excellence. The Guest of Honor Babu Lal, Member of Parliament said that the government was fully supportive of the industry and would help it reach its full potential. The other dignitaries who presided the event were Mukhtarul Amin - outgoing Chairman CLE, Puran Dawar - Regional Chairman North, R. Selvam – IAS, Executive Director, R. Sehgal - COA Member, Nazir Ahmed - COA Member (Designate), Subash Kapoor formed Vice Chairman, Atul Kumar MishraRegional Director.
In his welcome speech, R.K. Shukla, Assistant Director - CLE hailed the contribution of the industry to the growth of the Indian economy, and its role in providing employment to millions. He spoke about Amazon and the value that they are creating for consumers and sellers.
