The new Assassin’s Creed takes you on a journey like never before.
The hiatus before the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins worked wonders for Ubisoft when they launched the game last year. Origins was a strong game with improved mechanics, new combat system and a huge world that you can easily sink in 100-odd hours. This year’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey ups the ante by taking the best parts from the Origins, add new elements to make the game bigger and better.
The Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes place in 431 BCE during the Peloponnesian war between the Spartans and the Athenians. While the two warring sides bay for each other’s blood, you assume the role of an outcast Spartan-turned mercenary. The series, in the past, have allowed playing select missions as a male or a female assassin but this is the first time the game wants you to choose a single protagonist - Alexios or Kassandra. The character selection at the start is important as you cannot change them throughout the playthrough. But irrespective of the character you choose, the main storyline remains the same. We briefly played with both the characters but ultimately went with Kassandra for our full playthrough.
