It&rsquo;s hard to not to glimpse at the new Asus ZenBook 13 without being amazed by how small it truly is especially when held. Not only is it 14% smaller than the previous generation UX331 but also has a footprint lesser in size than an A4 sheet making it the smallest 13-inch laptop in the world.The metal finish on the lid is elegant yet not garish to detract from operating it in a professional environment. We got the top-end model in Royal Blue colour that looks suave paired with the Rose Gold trimming above the keyboard. Speaking of, the backlit keys make it suitable for night time but the cramped spacing is the biggest casualty of the miniaturisation. The layout took some time getting used to but the tactile feedback and travel was on point. The USP is the trackpad doubling as a number pad lighting up in neon blue once the top-right corner is pressed with sufficient force. While it works as intended, it will remain a cool novelty for most to show off. The smooth gliding and responsive gestures on the trackpad itself were accurate although it felt a tad short when navigating. The screen is absolutely gorgeous flanked by ultra thin bezels on the sides and top even housing an embedded HD IR webcam. While Windows Hello unlocking is super quick, the camera quality just about passes muster. A 13.3-inch panel with Full HD 1080p display further serves to highlight the sharp and colourful images. The colour reproduction is praiseworthy although in well lit environments it is hard to see due to not being antiglare. On the bottom are speakers tuned in conjunction with Harman Kardon working fine in most cases. Don&rsquo;t expect much in terms of loudness or bass, both of which were a little lacking. The Ergo Lift hinge below the screen has multipurpose usage lifting the base of the UX333 above the ground leading to better cooling as well as ventilation, no muffling of sound and inclined typing. The overall performance is great powered by a competent Intel core i7 processor, 8GB RAM, SSD storage and the option of switching between integrated Intel or discrete Nvidia graphics. The former is perfect to stretch out the battery life and the latter provides a bit more gruntwork in doing 3D work like video rendering or casual gaming at lower settings. A decent amount of ports were present on both sides supporting almost all modern connections but pulling out plugged in peripherals took more force as the slots were very tight. The dual-band Gigabit Wi-Fi isn&rsquo;t just for show managing to tap out nearly the entirety of our 100Mbps test connection. It weighs on the heavier side of the spectrum so we were happy to see curved edges which made it easier to grip and hold. The reason for this is the massive 5000mAh battery that just didn&rsquo;t know when to give up. We welcomed the inclusion of USB Type-C port and a 15W fast charger that topped up faster than its competitors with similar capacity going from a span of 0 to 100 in around 2 hours and 15 minutes. In our testing, it easily lasted 2 days under normal usage and one whole day when constantly taxed with videos and games. Do note that highly intensive 3D apps like PUBG and Asphalt required the graphic settings to be turned down for an acceptable framerate. This could be attributed to the debuting Exynos 7904 chipset having a distribution of 2x A-73 and 6x A-53 cores with the latter being more energy efficient rather than performance oriented. However, regular day-to-day use did not show any signs of lagging and everything went smoothly.
