PARADERO TODOS SANTOS, MEXICO
If we were to imagine a luxury resort on the planet of Tatooine, the fictional desert world orbiting twin suns in Star Wars, we imagine it would look something like Paradero Todos Santos.
The resort is set on a 2.2-hectare site in Todos Santos, a town on the southwestern coast of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, and features a series of earthy and beautifully brutalist structures that melt into the surrounding landscape of family-owned farms and the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.
“Understanding the surrounding nature as the most important element of the project, the property is organised along the perimeter of the plot, so that each suite and some of the common areas have an unobstructed view of the surroundings,” according to Ruben Valdez and Yashar Yektajo, the architects behind Paradero. Meanwhile, the interiors were overseen by Guadelajara studio B-Huber.
The hotel has 35 guest suites, including several with private rooftop terraces featuring “star nets”, which are large hammocks bolted into the walls. There’s an infinity pool with a unique crescent-shaped deck facing the wild of the desert or the beach, which is a 20-minute drive away.
