Under her eponymous brand, Aranáz, Amina Aranaz-Alunan launches a new collection that echoes a back-to-basic approach

The social and economic disruption brought by Covid-19 did not spare the world’s most successful and beloved fashion lines. From supply chain problems down to the difficulty in sourcing materials, the sector was among the groups that received the pandemic’s most dreadful blow.

Aranáz, a local brand of handmade bags and accessories had all the reasons to cave in, but when the national government imposed a nationwide lockdown in the early months of 2020, the label was able to create Raw Start, a collection made from repurposed raw materials.

“We are very ambitious when it comes to product development, but with our Raw Start collection, we had to work with the ‘basic building blocks’; we had to use our imagination and repurpose some of our unused raw materials,” its owner and creative director, Amina Aranaz-Alunan says.
