It is a reality that today’s generation is more sedentary and it is definitely not something to be happy about. Being sedentary not only negatively impacts the body but the mind as well. Our bodies are not designed to sit for hours, but unfortunately, most of us do.
Studies have shown that an average worker spends 77 per cent of the day sitting down, be it at a desk, during lunch, or even while taking public transport. Sitting for too long puts us at greater risk of developing serious conditions such as heart disease, obesity, higher glucose levels and type 2 diabetes. Research shows that a sedentary lifestyle can shorten your life. One study revealed that every hour spent sitting in front of the TV reduces your lifespan by 22 minutes.
