HE’S a Borders man in charge of a Borders book festival – and he’s an author to boot. Alistair Moffat has all the correct credentials to ensure that the Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival is going to be a winner.

It seems to be a sort of literary busman’s holiday for Alistair, but one he relishes.

“As a writer, the festival is a fund of information for me,” he says. “I can listen to other authors talk about their work and often learn something. And I can also meet old friends who make a living from the world of scribbling.
