While the focus is on quarterback, the biggest priority this offseason just might be upgrading the group of guys in front of him

It might be hard to believe based on all the talk and speculation of the first several weeks of the offseason, but there are positions the Dolphins have to address other than quarterback.

Actually, there are a lot of positions the Dolphins need to address this offseason, a lot of positions where the play wasn’t as good in 2019 as the aforementioned quarterback spot.

But the quarterback position will be addressed because that’s about landing that elusive franchise guy one way or another.

In the non-quarterback realm, there actually weren’t a whole lot of positions where the Dolphins were in good enough shape heading into free agency to not be on the lookout for reinforcements.

The one position that does come to mind is wide receiver, particularly after the emergence last season of 2015 first-round pick DeVante Parker, who ended up leading all AFC wideouts in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2019.

Along with Parker, the Dolphins also have veteran Allen Hurns, who got a contract extension last year, Albert Wilson, Jakeem Grant, Isaiah Ford and Preston Williams, provided he can bounce back from the ACL injury that cut short an impressive rookie season at the halfway mark.

Even then, there have been several mock drafts pegging the Dolphins to take a wide receiver with one of their three first-round selections.

It says here the Dolphins have bigger priorities elsewhere, though there’s something to be said for always taking the best player available.

As we examine the rest of the Dolphins roster beyond quarterback and wide receiver, it sure looks pretty clear where the focus should be this offseason, in free agency, the draft, and then the second wave of free agency.
