Ride-Along Demonstrates United Front

The Miami Dolphins FOOTBALL UNITES™ program collaborated with Broward’s Sherriff’s Office (BSO) for a community building ride-along to demonstrate a unified front between Dolphins players and law enforcement Nov. 5.

Dolphins players Shaq Calhoun, Bobby McCain, Doug Middleton, Durval Queiroz Neto and Chidi Okeke joined BSO to participate in a series of exercises and activities to engage with the community, discuss community policing and emphasize importance of perspective taking.

“Just being able to get out so they can see the Dolphins players and the police join forces and see that we are one community and we stand together is big,” McCain said. “We are all here for a reason and we are all here to help at the end of the day.”

As part of the ride-along, Dolphins players were paired with law enforcement officers to visit local communities in Broward County making stops at the Boys and Girls Club, Mary Saunders Park and C.W. Thomas Park in Dania Beach. To conclude the ride along, the group attended a roll call with BSO deputies at Dania Beach District.
