The fitness industry is riddled with myths, unexplained training methods and crazy “diet hacks”.
1 Carbs Make you FAT
Carbohydrates are often seen as the enemy when it comes to fat loss, whilst calories from protein and fats are not being taken into account.
Why? Think of a food that you really enjoy or would crave. For myself for example, this would be a doughnut or a slice of cake. If you were to look at the macronutrients of a doughnut you would find that it’s mostly made up of carbohydrates, along with moderate fats and a small amount of protein. Carbs form the lion’s share of almost everything tasty. If things like cake and doughnuts were formed mainly from protein, then I’m sure the myth would be “protein makes you fat”.
Low carb diets do work for the general population, yes, but this is because when you lower your carb intake you’re narrowing down the choice of foods that are high in calories you can eat. Low carb, low fat, keto no matter what method you choose, you will always need to be in a calorie deficit in order to lose body fat.
