Working out is less daunting with personal trainer Yong Poh from True Fitness Chevron House
These days, getting access to all kinds of information about health and fitness is easy. This isn’t necessarily a good thing though, especially when you’re trying to figure out a workout regimen that suits you best. That’s where a seasoned personal trainer like Yong Poh, 26, comes in. For Poh, training his clients isn’t solely about getting results, it’s also about making sure that they gain confidence by learning, and maintaining, proper techniques. Having been a trainer for over five years, Poh’s got the experience – and the body – to back it all up.
When did you start working out?
Yong Poh: I started working out when I was in primary school. I did simple body weight and static exercises like push-ups and pullups. It was my older brother who motivated me to really get into it.
When did you start working out at the gym?
I started working out in the gym when I was in the army. However, it was an on-and-off thing. It was only after my National Service did I get into personal training, working out and also working at a gym. It’s already been about five years since then.
Why did you decide to get into it?
Personally, I like to exercise; for health, and of course, for the aesthetic too. That’s a plus. But more importantly, I like helping other people achieve their personal goals and see them happy with their results, whether it be weight loss or muscle gain.
