Ankit Tiwari On His Trailblazing Journey.
STARDUST INDIA|July 2016

Theirs is a different tale altogether - those who hail from non-film backgrounds and small towns. They are the ones who make the golden stories and who inspiring scripts are based on. They are the real guys who inspire commoners to sincerely believe in their dreams. After winning awards and accolades across ceremonies in the last two years, composer singer Ankit Tiwari has created his own brand of music and made a name for himself. And to be able to carve a niche in such a short span of time is remarkable. Pooja Sharma meets the music sensation at his suburban residence to talk about his trailblazing journey.

Ankit Tiwari On His Trailblazing Journey.

You’ve bagged many awards for singing in the last two years. Describe the journey so far.

Whatever you do in life, you gain experience. I was an introvert, but you meet and speak to people and understanding how important networking is. I’ve learnt all this, being a part of this industry. I’m very thankful for everything I have learnt today. So far, the experiences have been great. Things changed after Aashiqui 2. Sun raha hai tu was the turning point in my career. Then I sang a song for a film called Samrat & Company, which wasn’t a hit. But then came Ek Villian and Roy, and fortunately, since then, there was no looking back.

Did you have a struggling phase or was it easier for you to get the opportunities that you’ve received?

You don’t get anything in life easily. There’s struggle at every level, first to get work, then the struggle to get better and better. As a musician, you create your own bank in the beginning, and then you meet people. You do one or two projects, nothing works. Then you get a film like Aashiqui 2, and overnight, things change. But what is more important is to sustain the success and not let that go to your head. Also, once you have achieved success, the level of struggle is different. There is politics, people start expecting more from you, and all these things come into play. You become a brand then. These things are part of the profession, so you have to be aware.

Did you have misconceptions about the industry?
