Remembering

As a commemoration of the 6 million Jews murdered and of victims of other genocides, the Reverend Canon Michael Smith lights some of the 600 candles shaped as a Star of David on the floor of the Chapter House of York Minster on January 26. The display was part of a week-long series of events to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27. Forever Honor

Representatives of the United States Postal Service, the Smithsonian Institution and Howard University with artist Alex Bostic unveil the latest USPS stamp, which features sculptor Edmonia Lewis on January 26 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The Edmonia Lewis Forever stamp is the 45th in the USPS Black Heritage series and honors the first African American and Native American sculptor to earn international recognition. - ANNA MONEYMAKER
