GRAHAM Alexander saluted Scunthorpe’s patience as NealBishop headed in a last-gasp winner to earn his side a third successive League One victory.
The Iron boss was also complimentary of referee Sebastian Stockbridge’s timekeeping, feeling the five minutes of stoppage time were justified on the back of Bristol Rovers’ time-wasting tactics.
Bishop’s goal, which he glanced into the far corner of the net following a ball into the box by Lee Novak, was just reward for the amount of pressure the home side applied – even if they had failed to turn possession into scoring chances.
“We left it late but it was deserved. We were the team that was really pushing to win the game,” said Alexander.
“We came up against a very stubborn Bristol Rovers side. They slowed the game down, defended deep and in numbers, but thankfully, the officials put on the right amount of time at the end.
