Forest have ability to cut down their rivals

CAN Nottingham Forest see a way through a dense Championship battle to secure automatic promotion?

If they can replicate the performance they put in to beat Leeds last weekend, they’ve got a great shot.

I was at the City Ground for the big clash and was really impressed with what I saw from Sabri Lamouchi’s men.

The Forest manager lined up in a very Southampton-style formation with a back four and two number 6s and two number 10s behind the lone striker Lewis Grabban.

However, he didn’t persist with it for too long and reverted back to his usual 4-2-3-1 midway through the first half and Forest were then much more like themselves.

Admittedly, they had a slice of luck when Leeds keeper Kiko Casilla allowed Sammy Amoebi’s simple shot to squirm under him at the near post from their first real effort at goal just after the half-hour. The Reds added a touch of gloss to the scoreline with a late second from Tyler Walker. It came after superb work from Joe Lolley to race clear and tee it up on a plate for the son of legendary defender Des to tap home.

Exile

It has been over two decades since Forest were competing in the top-flight and their exile may soon be over if Lamouchi keeps Forest firing.
