HORSHAM YMCA began with an impressive 1-0 home win against Eastbourne Town, thanks to Jack Ryder’s 75th-minute goal.
The result is a notable victory for Horsham as Eastbourne were sitting in second position, six points behind leaders Lancing but with a game in hand, when last season was abandoned.
Eastbourne were the league’s top scorers at the time, with 79 goals scored in their 28 league games played.
And they will be anxious to bounce back when they host Peacehaven & Telscombe on Tuesday night.
