SAM BARRATT is an artist by trade – and he’s already painting a brighter picture for hometown club Maidenhead United.
The 25-year-old is enjoying a second wind with the Magpies having re-joined the club from an injury-ravaged spell at Southend United in September.
Barratt’s nine goals so far has not only surpassed his own goalscoring target for the whole season but has also propelled Alan Devonshire’s men into the top echelons of the National League having lost their opening three matches.
“I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting to score so many,” Barratt told The NLP. “When I came back to the club I wanted initially to play regularly and find my feet again after my injury.
“I’ve still got a bit to work on with my performance but on the front of the goal it’s gone better than I ever expected – I’ve even surpassed my target for the season already!”
